Ambuja Cements has been certified as India’s leading ‘water positive’ cement company by DNV GL. The Holcim-owned company obtained a 4.03 water positive status, well above the factor of 2 achieved when the assessment was carried out three years ago. In recent years, Ambuja Cements has pioneered initiatives to harvest and best manage water resources and has succeeded in reducing water consumption from 8389 million litres in 2011 to 7734 million litres in 2014, a 7.8% reduction.

The assessment by DNV GL was carried out for the period January - December 2014 and the audit encompassed samples from the company's various facilities.
