New plant in the pipeline
Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings has announced plans to construct a 4500 tpd cement plant in Yunfu, Guangdong Province, China, via its subsidiary Green Island Cement. The project will require an investment of HK$700 million (US$90.32 million).
A contract has been signed between Yeung Tak Cheuen, Vice President of the company, and Huang Qiang, mayor of Yunfu, for a 700 acre parcel to host the new facility.
Green Island Cement owns two cement plants in Guangdong, as well as one in Hong Kong.
What’s new with West China Cement?
The Yangxian facility, located within the Hanzhong Region, should begin operations ahead of schedule this month, and the Mianxian facility is scheduled for commissioning in the third quarter of the year.
Jimin Zhang, CEO of West China Cement, revealed that the company is planning production expansion, new capacity construction and acquisitions over 2010, within the Shaanxi Province or nearby regions. Two additional 2500 tpd production lines are being planned, which would increase the company's total capacity output to 11.8 million tpy by the end of 2010.
