Zuari Cement has established Prazna, a skill development and self-employment drive for the youth, which aims to promote skill enhancement activities, enabling young people to support both themselves and their families. As stated during the launch of Prazna in Sitapuram in late August, Zuari Cement will provide training for 80 youths, both men and women, from villages close to the company's Yerraguntla unit.

Skill development programmes undertaken as part of Prazna include:

  • Tailoring and sewing skills for women.
  • Screen-printing.
  • Jute/paper bag making.
  • Motor winding and other electrical maintenance.
  • Mobile repairs.
  • Driver training.

On 6 October 2014, Nabil Francis, Managing Director of Zuari Cement, inaugurated the company's tailoring and sewing skill development programme. This training programme will be held for 20 women, who will be selected with the help of the village leaders. During the inauguration, which was attended by Srinivasarao Yadagani, Vice President of the Yerraguntla unit, Carlo Foroni, Technical Director, Krishna Srivastava, Wholetime Director, Suresh Sivanandam, President of HR & IR, and other senior executives, Francis addressed the crowd and emphasised that skill development programmes are an excellent way to provide training and opportunities for young people, so that they may become self-reliant and financially independent. Francis further noted that the programme would be simulated at every Zuari Cement unit.
