Sharing best practice in health and safety

World Cement,

Lafarge Pakistan Limited and the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a platform for sharing best practice in terms of health and safety. Lafarge Pakistan is committed to providing training and awareness to other APCMA members and to other industries in Pakistan. APCMA has welcomed the initiative and encourages other members to also share their best practices.

In a similar spirit, the UK Mineral Products Association (MPA) has introduced the latest booklet in its ‘Safer by Sharing’ series, which aims to share best practices across the mineral products industries in the UK. The booklet includes illustrated summaries of the best ideas and innovations in health and safety. These are also available on the website www.safequarry.com, together with mini health and safety videos. The MPA encourages its members to share their best practice by participating in this scheme, which was originally introduced in 1996 and has since expanded and evolved. The good practice guides on offer extend beyond the minerals industries to encompass those outside of the MPA membership, such as contractors and suppliers.
