Japanese cement production down in May

Japanese cement production was 4.8 million t in May, according to statistics from the Japanese Cement Association, a 2.1% fall on the previous year.

Total production for the year to day is 24.0 million t, a 1.5% fall on the first five months of 2017.

Domestic sales were up 4.3% at 3.38 million t, but exports were done significantly, falling 18.7% to 0.975 million t. Stockpiles were at 4.0 million t.
