Myanmar’s Ministry of Industry reportedly chooses firms for cement joint venture

According to local news site Eleven Myanmar, the country’s Ministry of Industry has announced plans for a joint venture to set up state-owned cement plants. Under the No. 3 Heavy Industries Department, the Ministry offered tender for plant operation to domestic and international companies. According to the report, 13 firms have been awarded the tender, including Shwe Taung Cement Co. Ltd, Original Group, Max Myanmar Manufacturing, Asian Cement Public, Ultra Group of Companies, Shwe Khit Aung, Ferrostaal, Mother Industrial, Myint Investment Group, Myanmar Cement & Mineral Production, Global Star, Diadem (Myanmar) and Myanmar Jidong Cement.

Myanmar’s cement industry is also the focus of foreign investment, with companies such as Siam Cement and Semen Indonesia looking to increase their market share in the region.
