India’s CREDAI urges government to reduce sand and cement prices

The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) has urged the government to take necessary measures to bring down the prices of cement and sand in Andhra Pradesh.
According to local press reports, State President of CREDAI A. Siva Reddy noted that the domestic construction industry is facing increasing hardships due to the prices of sand and cement, which have been rising over the past several months.
The price of cement in Andhra Pradesh has increased to Rs.400, Reddy noted, while a bag of cement in Telangana costs around Rs.275 – Rs.300. Furthermore, a year ago, sand cost approximately Rs.80/m3, or Rs.2500 – Rs.3000 for 6 m3. The government has now fixed the product at Rs.660/m3, or around Rs.6000 for 6 m3, including a minimum of Rs.2100 in transportation costs for delivery to construction sites, said Reddy.
