Cement despatches from Pakistan reach 4 month high
Cement despatches from Pakistan achieved a 4 month high in October, reaching 2.9 million t, a 45% increase from 2 million t in September.
The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) remarked that the increase was evident in export figures, which jumped 52% to 0.94 million t, from 0.62 million t in September. Domestic despatches grew 44% in October, reaching 1.97 million t in comparison with 1.37 million t in September.
However, October 2010 figures showed a slight decline year on year. Exports declined 16%, while total despatches in October this year were 4% lower than the same month last year.
Cement prices have jumped to around Rs 335 per 50 kg bag, although prices are slightly higher in the flood-damaged regions such as southern Punjab and Sindh, where figures are around Rs 350 per 50 kg bag.
