Araniko Cement begins production at new Jitpur plant
According to local news source Republica, Nepal-based Araniko Cement Industries’ new cement plant in Jitpur, Bara, has commenced operations. The new plant represents an investment of Rs.600 million. It produces the ‘Advance’ brand of cement, while the company’s plant in Abukhaireni produces its ‘Araniko’ cement brand. Araniko Cement Industries will produce 5 million 50 kg sacks of OPC and PPC a year from both plants.
Around 40% of Nepal’s cement demand is produced nationally. The rest is imported from countries such as India and Bhutan.
