ACC Limited to build new plant in Maharashtra

ACC Limited, India, has just announced that it is setting up a 3 million tpa cement plant at Ghughus in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra at a cost of Rs.1500 crores. The project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2010. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on 31 May 2010 between ACC and the Government of Maharashtra.

Sumit Banerjee, Managing Director of ACC Ltd, said, “This will be an environment friendly plant and the company has invested considerable resources to ensure the highest standards in environment management. The central control room is designed as a Green Building among the first Green Buildings that are functionally part of a manufacturing establishment. We are also setting up a new captive power plant of 25 MW capacity to cater to the project’s power requirement”.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Rajendra Dardaji, said that the new plant would contribute to the economy as well as help in generations of jobs for locals and assured all possible incentives and encouragement for the projects.
