Japanese cement production bounces back in March

Japanese cement production of 5.4 million t in March 2018, a slight increase on 1.5% on the same month in 2017.
Year-to-date production totalled 14.5 million t, a slight fall on the first three months of 2017.
Sales of cement were 4.8 million t, a 3.8% increase on march 2017. Domestic sales were down slightly at 3.6 million t, but exports bounced 20.7% at 1.2 million t.
At the end of March, inventory totalled 4.2 million, roughly level with the end of the previous month.
