CONTROLS establishes new subsidiary in Kurdistan

CONTROLS, a leading manufacturer of materials testing equipment for the construction industry, has announced the establishment of a new Iraqi subsidiary. TE CONTROLS LLC is located in Erbil, in the Iraqi province of Kurdistan. It will provide both basic and advanced testing equipment for the concrete, soil and asphalt industries. The expansion will enable CONTROLS to better serve its customers in Iraq, with the new subsidiary offering expertise, as well as pre- and after-sales service.
Cement market
According to IA Cement Ltd, rebuilding work is driving cement consumption in Iraq. It has been estimated that the country will require around 5 million tpa of imports in the medium-term to meet demand levels. Cement producers such as Lucky Cement, Attock Cement and ASEC have expressed plans to enter the country’s cement market as interest from foreign investors picks up.
