The Ohorongo Otavi Community Trust (OOCT), which was established by Ohorongo Cement in 2008, has donated medical equipment to Onandjokwe Hospital, in collaboration with Support e.V.

Delivering quality health services to the community has presented Namibia with many challenges, including inadequate medical equipment and supplies.

In July 2015, Hon. Minister Dr Bernard Haufiku, approached Ohorongo Cement with a special request for scopes for the hospital. OOCT and Support e.V. managed to respond to this request within 2 months, and the requested scopes were donated on 25 September, along with other medical equipment, to the value of N$ 204 000 00, including:

  • Colonoscopes.
  • Gastroscopes.
  • Sigmoido Scope.
  • Protoscope.
  • Rectoscope.
  • Wheelchairs.
  • Walking frames.
  • Commodity chairs.
  • Emergency kits.
  • Disinfection stations.
  • Suction pumps.
  • Microwave therapy units.
  • Infrared coagulator.
  • Ergometer.

The donation was received by the Hon. Minister himself at a hand-over ceremony at Onanandjokwe Hospital, and is purposed for use at the hospital and surrounding area where need is great.

The existing agreement between OOCT, Support e.V. and the Ministry of Health and Social Services was renewed and extended for another 5 years in November 2014.
