NYA is set to break ground at new cement plant in DRC
Nyumba Ya Akiba sarl (NYA), a joint venture company belonging to Pakistan’s Lucky Cement and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Rawji Group, is establishing a cement plant in DRC. The 1.2 million tpa plant will be located some 250 km from the country’s capital city along the main Kinshasa-Matadi Highway.
NYA has finalised a plant and machinery purchase contract with FLSmidth for the supply of state-of-the-art technology, which will lead to greater fuel and power efficiencies and thereby produce lower cost cement. NYA has also placed an order for mining equipment to develop the quarry for plant operation.
A ground breaking ceremony will take place by 30 June 2013. Cement production is expected to commence by the second half of 2015.
