Dangote Cement inks US$4.34 billion contracts with Sinoma International Engineering

Dangote Cement and Sinoma International Engineering have signed contracts worth US$4.34 billion to raise its total cement production capacity to more than 70 million tpy. With the new investments, Dangote Cement will be present across Africa and will expand its reach to Asia with a 3 million tpy plant in Nepal. Speaking at the contract signing ceremony, Aliko Dangote, the company’s chairman, said that by 2020 the company hopes to have around 100 million tpy of cement capacity. He added that in the future Africa will be self-sufficient in cement.
In addition to the 3 million tpy plant in Nepal, the contracts signed with Sinoma include two 3 million tpy plants in Kenya, a 2.5 million tpy plant in Ethiopia and 1.5 million tpy lines in Zambia, Senegal, Niger, Mali, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire and Ghana.
The group’s latest project, a 1.5 million tpy line in Douala, Cameroon, will be officially opened today.
