Iran produced 4.5 million of cement in first month of new year

According to local reports, Iran produced more than 4.5 million t of cement and almost 6.3 million t of clinker in the Iranian calendar month of Farvadin (21 March – 20 April). More than 1 million t of cement and clinker were exported in the same month, which marks the first month of the Iranian calendar year. In the previous year, a total of 18.8 million t of cement was exported, making the country the biggest exporter of cement in the Middle East and the third largest in the world. This figure reflected an increase of 378% y/y. Annual cement production in Iran is currently around 80 million t and plans are reportedly in place to increase capacity to 85 million tpa by the end of this calendar year. Export markets include Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, the UAE, Georgia and Oman.
