Cimenfort Cement plant in Angola aims to reach 1.4 million tpy from January 2016, doubling its production as part of the second phase of expansion and enabling a third phase of expansion by 2018. Compared with the US$100 million invested since the plant was inaugurated in 2012, the cost of the modernisation, expansion and ongoing sustainability of the plant will have cost US$300 million by 2018. Of the US$200 million invested in the second and third phases, the bulk of expenditure will be due to the purchase and installation of an electric furnace.
“We want to put together a furnace for clinker production, which is the company’s main concern, as this raw material is currently imported from Europe,” explained Guilherme Paiva, Project Manager.
