Limited quantity of cement to enter Gaza

World Cement,

Local news agencies have reported that Israel has agreed to permit the entry of a limited amount of cement, steel and gravel into Gaza. It is hoped that the arrival of construction materials will help private sector companies to resume work in the area. This is the first time Israel has allowed materials into the Gaza Strip in six years. Border officials have stated that Israel has agreed to gradually increase the amount of building materials into Gaza. At present, it has been reported that around 800 tpd of cement will be allowed to enter Gaza.

Middle East Quartet Representative, Tony Blair, has praised the move as an important step, outlining the positive benefits that “a vibrant and thriving Palestinian economy” could bring.
