Çimsa plans significant investment in 2017

Turkish cement producer, Çimsa a subsidiary of Sabanci Holding, is investing US$120 million to upgrade its Eskisehir and Afyonkarahisar cement plants this year, according to a company statement. The investment will increase the company’s production capacity and broaden the company’s product range.

At the Eskisehir plant, US$55 million will be invested in a modification ton allow the plant to produce both grey and white clinker, increasing the company’s production capacity for white cement to 1.565 million tpy.

Çimsa is a global leader in white cement production. In addition to the new capacity at Eskisehir, the company also produces the speciality cement at its Mersin plant.

The company will also invest US$165 million in increasing production capacity at its Afyonkarahisar cement plant. Capacity will triple to reach 1.5 million tpy of clinker production.

“With these investments, while Çimsa’s position in the sector is strengthened, we will also continue to create social, environmental, and economic value for our country by increasing employment,” the company said in a statement.
