United Cement Company extends Wärtsilä power contract
Nigeria’s United Cement Company (UniCem) has awarded Wärtsilä a 3-year Operations and Maintenance agreement for its power plant, extending an earlier 3-year contract that is due to expire this year. The 47 MW power plant is powered by three Wärtsilä 50DF dual-fuel engines and can operate on either natural gas or heavy fuel oil. It provides power to the company’s 2.5 million tpa Mfamosing cement plant in Nigeria’s Cross River State.
Under the extended contract, Wärtsilä will provide operational and maintenance support, engineering expertise, related technology, timely delivery of parts for maintenance, as well as a customised service programme.
