RAK Co. for White Cement awards Aggreko with power contract
Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Co. for White Cement awarded a power contract to Aggreko, a temporary power and temperature control service specialist. The 450 000 tpa UAE cement producer contacted Aggreko after the plant’s gas turbine failed while standby power had been shut down for maintenance. Aggreko provided the plant with 6 MW of power at 6.6 kV for two weeks, after restarting the power generators within three days. The power supply was extended by another week so that further repairs could be carried out. Aggreko engineers provided constant support, running the generators 24/7 in temperatures reaching 50 °C.
“We reached out to Aggreko without hesitation due to their reputation for providing power with speed and agility. We also needed a provider who could be flexible, due to the uncertain timing of the repairs. Aggreko proved to be a reliable and adaptable power provider, addressing our rather urgent needs seamlessly, and ensuring our business could continue without interruption,” said Chetan Elkunchwar, Technical Director, RAK Co. for White Cement.
