Lafarge Tanzania provides clean water to village

Lafarge Cement Tanzania has invested more than Sh.10 million in a water project for Songwe Village near its Mbeya plant. The project includes a water storage tank and equipment to supply drinking water that will benefit more than 200 households. Speaking at the ceremony to mark the handover of the project, CEO Catherine Langreney said: "Lafarge Tanzania recognises that water is one of the key requirements and crucial to the development of the country socially and economically. Providing people with a permanent solution to their problems demonstrates our commitment to helping the community which covers an area of our business.”

Mbeya’s District Commissioner, Mr Nyirembe Sabi, thanked Lafarge Tanzania for the project. “Communities and environment need clean, accessible water to thrive. I am glad that this facility will provide the community with the much-needed resource and wish to thank Lafarge Tanzania for their efforts,” he said.
