In Nigeria, the Corporate Affairs Commission has held the first Corporate Citizens Awards. Lafarge Africa won in the ‘Extensive Compliance Category’. The awards aim to recognise corporate citizens who have distinguished themselves in the conduct of their business, and which promote good statutory compliance in the country.

The awards were presented by the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, who expressed delight that they began during his tenure because good business conduct was a major principle of his ministry.

Lafarge Africa CEO Guillaume Roux said that adherence to regulatory requirements is ingrained in the company’s Principles of Action. “The stringent criteria for nomination provide evidence of our drive to making a difference in our industry, communities and in Nigeria as a whole,” Roux is quoted as saying in a report on Business Day.
