Norm Cement is the first cement plant in the South Caucasus region, including Azerbaijan, to receive an API (American Petroleum Institute) certificate. The Norm team has worked diligently for more than a year to receive the certificate. Certain production equipment has been renewed, additional testing equipment was purchased, a new six-section cement silo was built and an internal audit was organised for all departments during this period to improve the quality control system. The process was successfully completed by passing the API audit.

The Certification programme is based on the highest standards recognised and trusted in the world. The certificate is currently accepted as the most in-demand credential in the oil-well cement industry.

The API Monogram certification is a license containing regular cement production and testing processes in compliance with API standards. An enterprise with this license needs to have a quality management system that meets API Q1 standards and the products must meet API Spec 10A requirements.

API Q1 certification is particularly designed to comply with the quality requirements of the oil and gas industry. Norm Cement will become the first manufacturer in the South Caucasus to produce oil-well cement, being Q1 and A10 certified by the American Petroleum Institute.

Oil-well cement having a special composition in terms of quality and reliability is produced within a strict quality management system and applied in cementing oil and gas wells under high temperature and pressure.

Meeting the needs at the expense of local production and service enterprises within the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan is one of the main conditions under the agreement signed on rehabilitation, exploration, development and production sharing for the block including oil fields (PSA agreement) signed between SOCAR and BP Exploration (Azerbaijan). Production of oil-well cement by the Norm Cement plant will trigger the development and stimulation of local production in general.

The received certificates make Norm OJSC an active participant not only in the development of the country’s oil and gas sector, but also in efficient realisation of the export potential of oil-well cement, and increase of export in the non-oil sector in general. Therefore, the production of oil-well cement in Azerbaijan will allow prevention of foreign currency inflow and preservation of currency reserves in the country.

Norm Cement, the largest cement producer of the South Caucasus, will continue to operate in a safe and professional manner complying with the latest industry standards accepted in the world.
