World Cement,
On close of business 4 March, Ohorongo Cement achieved 365 days Lost Day Injury (LDI) free.
Hans-Wilhelm Schütte, Managing Director, attributed this to the Ohorongo team’s high focus on safety and playing their part in identifying potential incidents and mitigating them.
Schütte said: “The milestone achieved certainly sets the benchmark for future records. So keep on reporting hazardous situations and near misses, to ensure continuous improvement in safety behaviour.”
He added: “It is Ohorongo’s aspiration to become the reference institution for good safety behaviour within the mining industry building in our reputation as winners of the 2016 Chamber of Mines inter-mining safety awards.”
