Mozambican government plans 500 000 tpa cement plant

World Cement,

According to local news reports, there are plans to establish a cement plant in Chibabava in the Sofala province of Mozambique. The plant is expected to have a capacity of 500 000 tpa and take advantage of limestone reserves in the area. However, plans have been stalled due to a lack of electricity in the region. It has been reported that a gas pipeline might be constructed to carry natural gas from Temane’s natural gas fields to the cement plant.

Mozambique’s government recently announced that it would begin supervising cement production in an effort to ensure that supply would meet rising demand, which has been boosted by a number of large construction projects.
