World Cement,
Sinoma has begun construction on the new Sinoma Building Materials Industrial Park in Zambia, which will provide employment for some 3000 people locally. The US$500 million investment is Sinoma’s first in Zambia.
The facility will produce cement through a 2500 tpd line, as well as bricks, lime, fibre cement board and other building materials.
The government welcomed the investment as a step away from the copper industry towards economic diversification. They expressed their wish that Sinoma consider apprenticeships and on-the-job training to offer employment to young people.
