New Dangote cement plant to be inaugurated

A new 6 million tpa Dangote cement plant in Ibese, Ogun State, will soon be inaugurated.

According to a source at the Group, production at its Gboko plant will soon be increased, as the company has almost concluded its expansion of the plant to increase the previous 3.5 million tpa capacity up to 4 million tpa.

With 4 million t in Gboko, about 10 million t in Obajana and another 6 million t in Ibese, the Dangote cement production is expected to reach about 20 million t by the end of this year. This will surpass the country’s current demand of 17 million tpa of cement, freeing up cement for exports to other African countries.

Dangote Cement has emerged as African’s biggest cement manufacturing company with cement plants in 14 different African countries. Among others, the company is represented in Zambia, Tanzania, South Africa, Congo (Brazzaville), Ethiopia, Cameroun (Grinding), Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Ghana and Senegal.

The goal, according to the company, is to ensure that Africa remains self-sufficient in cement production and to make the products easily available and at affordable costs to the end users.

The expansion of the group should benefit the shareholders also. The Special Adviser to the President, Joseph Makoju, has said the increased production would lead to more revenue for the company and will ultimately benefit the shareholders, noting that investment in Dangote stock is the best investment decision made by the shareholders so far.
