The Director of Marketing at Lafarge Africa Plc, Mr Vipul Agrawal, has commended the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) for ensuring that Nigeria now has a credible and well-researched Concrete Mix Design Manual, which can be used for buildings and other infrastructure projects in Nigeria.
Lafarge is one of the stakeholders that COREN partnered with during the research and development of the manual. Mr Agrawal said that Lafarge Africa Plc was glad to be associated wth this milestone because of the premium it places on safe, sustainable solutions to housing and infrastructure development in Nigeria and beyond. The Lafarge Marketing Director called on all those involved in the use of concrete for infrastructure in Nigeria to use the manual to avoid quality and safety concerns.
On his part, the President of COREN, Engr. Kashim Ali, said he was glad that Nigeria no longer needs to depend on concrete mix design manuals from other countries, irrespective of the sharp differences in environmental and other factors.
The Concrete Mix Design manual provides guidelines for the determination of the appropriate concrete mixes for various construction projects in Nigeria. It is the first such manual to be produced for infrastructure projects in the country.
