World Cement,

According to reports, Dangote Cement Plc plans to expand capacity at its new cement plant in Cameroon from 1.5 million tpy to 3 million tpy. The announcement was reportedly made during Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote’s visit to Cameroon, where he met with the country’s Prime Minister and other government officials. Dangote Cement is said to be in the process of signing contracts for a second cement production line.

With the completion of the first line at the Dangote Cement plant in Douala, Cameroon became self-sufficient in cement production, with total capacity of 3.2 million tpy. Dangote plans to export capacity to neighbouring countries, but demand in Cameroon and the surrounding areas is expected to increase as infrastructure investments are made. Some 220 trucks and trailers have been imported by Dangote Cement into Cameroon to enable easier transportation of the product, which will both create jobs and help to stabilise prices.
