World Cement,

Nigeria’s BUA Group is expanding capacity at its Obu cement plant in Edo State through a US$600 million investment. The contract for the project has been signed with Sinoma International Engineering Co., which is having a good run in Africa having only recently signed more than US$4 billion in contracts with Dangote Cement.

The Obu plant currently has the capacity to produce 3.5 million t of cement and this expansion will reportedly double capacity, raising market share in Nigeria to about 20%. The project is expected to be completed in 2017. Sinoma is currently carrying out an expansion project for the group at its CCNN plant, which should be completed in early 2016.
