Iran’s cement output continues to rise
Cement production in Iran reportedly rose by ~5% y/y in the first four months of this Iranian calendar year (21 March – 22 July). Total cement production for the period was 25.65 million t, with the final month alone achieving 6.68 million t.
In December 2012, the Iranian Industry, Mine and Trade Deputy Minister said that Iran will become the world’s third largest cement producer when it reaches its targeted annual output of 115 million t. Production capacity is currently around 75 million t, projected to rise to 85 million t by the end of the next Iranian calendar year. Last August, the Ministry said that capacity would reach 110 million t by 2015.
Iran exports cement to 24 countries in all, including neighbouring countries, CIS countries, the Middle East, India and China. According to reports, total exports in this calendar year will reach 12 million t.
