Dangote Cement to construct plant in Senegal

Dangote Cement plans to construct a cement plant in Pout, Senegal. The plant, which will be built on an area covering 700 hectares, will initially have a cement production capacity of 1.5 million t, with plans to increase capacity to 5 million tpa. The plant will be built to the same specifications as the Ibese cement plant in Nigeria, which is currently undergoing an expansion project to raise its production capacity to 12 million tpa by mid-2014. The new cement plant in Pout will provide 900 direct jobs and 3000 indirect jobs, as well as doubling cement production levels in the country.
