Sinoma reports that Dangote Cement’s Obajana clinker production line 4 was ignited on 15th July and load running was conducted on 21 July. The successful ignition and production marks a milestone in the project, for which Sinoma is general contractor. The new line will produce 6000 tpd of clinker.

Meanwhile, Aliko Dangote has told customers that the expansion of the company’s cement plants in Nigeria – set to reach about 28 million t by the end of the year – will bring down cement prices in the country. Mr Dangote is also working on simplifying the distribution process. Group Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, Knut Ulvmoen, told delegates at a recent customer forum that the company wishes to improve its relationships with distributors and dealers. World Stage reports that a highlight of the event was ‘the distribution of gifts and appreciation letters to distributors and dealers that have contributed to the boosting of the sales and marketing of the company’s products’. Last month the company dished out a half-year bonus to distributors and promised further employment opportunities.
