The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) has named its interim board at the association’s foundation meeting in London. Albert Manifold, CEO of CHR, was appointed the association’s president; Fernando A. González, CEO of CEMEX, and Jianglin Cai, CEO of CNBM, were both appointed Vice President.
Board appointments are on an interim basis until formal elections can take place for the full board of 15 members at the GCCA’s first annual general meeting in November 2018.
“We are proud to launch this new global cement and concrete advocacy platform,” said Manifold. “ Cement and concrete are integral elements of the built environment around the world and the GCCA represents a strong sector-wide voice and responsible industry leadership in the manufacture and use of these materials.”
The GCCA will introduce its executive team, present a detailed work programme, and launch its Sustainability Charter at the annual general meeting. The meeting will also be accompanied by a high-level conference aimed at exploring ways to promote innovation in the construction value chain.
The GCCA brings together ten leading companies from the cement industry, including CEMEX, CNBM, CRH, Dangote, Eurocement, HeidelbergCement, LafargeHolcim, Teiheiyo, UltraTech, and Votorantim. Membership is open to cement and concrete manufacturers around the world.
