Estanda has completed the improvement of a raw cement mill for a significant cement plant in Mexico. The aim of the project was to improve the productivity of the ball mill, as well as to reduce the wearing of the steel parts due to the characteristics of the material to be ground: raw cement with a very high abrasiveness. Estanda was commissioned to carry out the project.

The raw cement mill used had a dia. of 4.6 m and consisted of a drying chamber and a central discharge diaphragm.

The solution implemented by Estanda’s technicians involved the installation of the new transfer diaphragm with modified designs for the plates, which were manufactured using highly wear and temperature resistant steels. As a result of this, the productivity of the ball mill improved by up to 10%.

The installation and commissioning of the project was finalised in January 2016.
