Bolivian President Evo Morales paid a visit to the Cooperativa Boliviana de Cemento, Industrias y Servicios (Coboce) cement plant in Capinota, Cochabamba. The President addressed workers at the plant, quashing rumours that the site was to be nationalised. Instead, Morales expressed his desire to reduce reliance on cement imports from Peru and Brazil by establishing more plants in Bolivia, whether they be private, state-owned or cooperatives.
Morales also highlighted a new investment in Coboce’s Irpa Irpa cement plant in Cochabamba, which will increase its production capacity from 24 000 bags/day to 75 000 bags/day.
Ecebol has announced a tender for the construction of a new cement plant in the state of Oruro, while Soboce outlines its expectations for the year ahead.
