NSSGA to oppose final rule on workplace exams

MSHA has issued a final workplace exams rule today, following months of comments and opposition from member companies, including the NSSGA.

The NSSGA is planning to seek help from the incoming Trump administration to rescind or block the implementation of the rule, which does little to improve workplace safety.

The NSSGA has not had the opportunity to review the entire finalised rule, though it is pleased that the proposal did not seek to redefine the term ‘competent person’ conducting the exams. Thousands of operators have improved safety by empowering all employees to be guardians of workplace safety – the proposed rule would have limited this trend.
