Domestic cement dispatches came in at 850 367 t for members of ASOCEM, Peru’s cement manufacturers’ association, in May 2014. Approximately 25 846 t of cement was exported during the same month.
The country’s National Institute of Statistics and Information (INEI) has recently released a report on the Peruvian economy’s performance in April 2014. The economy grew by 2.01%, which represents 57 months of consecutive growth. However, although there was an improvement in the gas, electricity and water sector (4.83%), the mining and hydrocarbon sector contracted by 6.10%. Construction industry growth also waned, falling by 8.89%.
The Governor of the State of Falcón, Venezuela, has granted Industria Venezolana de Cemento a permit to quarry limestone and clay for the next 20 years.
