USGS releases report on Cement in September 2011

 

World Cement,

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico for September 2011 were 7.0 million t. This was 3% higher than shipments in September 2010. Shipments for the year through September were 53.8 million t, slightly higher than those of the same period in 2010. The leading producing States in September were Texas, California, Missouri, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, in descending order, and accounted for about 42% of the total production. The leading consuming States (Texas, California, Illinois, Florida, and Ohio, in descending order) received about 34% of the September total shipments.

Clinker production totaled 5.8 million t in September, slightly lower than the output in September 2010. Production for the year through September was 45.7 million t, slightly lower than that for the same period in 2010. The leading clinker-producing States in September were Texas, Missouri, California, Florida, and Pennsylvania, in descending order, and accounted for about 47% of the September total.

Masonry cement shipments in September of about 160 000 t were almost 7% lower than shipments in September 2010. Shipments for the year through September were 1.40 million t, down by 7% from those through September 2010. The leading consuming States, in descending order, were Florida, Texas, California, North Carolina, and Georgia, and these took about 44% of September’s total shipments.

September 2011 imports of cement and clinker of about 515 000 t were down by 21% from those in September 2010. Imports for the year through September totaled 4.74 million t, down by nearly 8% from those for the year through September 2010.

 

USGS data reveals production slightly down in US

The US Geological Survey has issued its report providing monthly data on the shipments of cement to final customers, and the production of clinker, in the US from January - June 2011.
