World Cement,

Lafarge has announced the sale of aggregates assets in Maryland to Bluegrass Materials. The sale comes as part of Lafarge’s strategy of refocusing on its core markets in the US, which has previously seen the group divest its North American gypsum operations. These latest divestments bring the programme almost to completion.

Lafarge’s US operations include a network of integrated positions located mainly in the Great Lake and Mississippi River regions, including nine cement or grinding plants and associated cement terminals with a combined capacity of 11 million t. This is in addition to related aggregates and concrete businesses in these markets.

The transaction is subject to relevant regulatory approvals.
