During the summer, the Georgia Construction Aggregate Association (GCAA) has been advocating for the industry and bringing lawmakers to local operations.
Members of the GCAA recently hosted Rep. Jody Hice, R-Ga., at a tour of the Vulcan Materials’ Norcross Quarry. Rep. Hice did not support the FAST Act surface transportation reauthorisation in December, so the tour included a roundtable lunch at which attendees encouraged him to continue to look for ways to support long term highway funding.
“We really appreciated the chance to sit down with Rep. Hice and talk with him about the benefits of investing in Georgia’s infrastructure,” said Jeff Wansley, GCAA executive director.
In Cumming, Ga., Republican lawmakers Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and state Sen. Brandon Beach also recently toured the Argos Ready Mix Plant in Cumming, Ga., at an event organized by the Georgia Ready Mixed Concrete Association and GCAA member company Bluegrass Materials.
In June, GCAA also co-hosted an event with several member companies in honour of Rep. Rob Woodall, R-Ga., who serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and was an advocate and supporter of the FAST Act.
