As the first part of the modernisation of the city of Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico, Cemex has announced the four kilometer concrete paving of the Periferico Paseo de la Republica, one of the city’s main avenues. The modernisation is being carried out by the state Secretatiat of Communications and Public Works.
One of the primary objectives of this plan is to convert the highway into a beltway, in order to improve traffic for more than 70 thousand vehicles that circulate daily on this road. To do so, it is necessary to remove the pavement and replace it with hydraulic concrete, which is more resistant, safer and has a longer life warranty.
"We have the experience of using this hydraulic concrete in other cities; therefore, we are sure that this is the appropriate solution, especially in urban landscapes where the vehicle flow is high, such as the city beltway," said José Juan Dominguez Lopez, Michoacan Communications, and Public Works Secretary.

The second phase of the Morelia Beltway is expected to continue in the following months.
