BNSF Logistics LLC, a member of the US-based Worldwide Project Consortium WWPC, has managed a project to ship cement mill equipment from Izmir in Turkey to Houston, USA. Several pieces of equipment weighing a total of 1600 m3 were transported aboard the M/V Maersk Texas. From Houston, the equipment will be taken by truck to a cement plant in Alberta, Canada.
The project was carried out in cooperation with WWPC Partner Smart Logistics from Turkey.
The paper highlights biofuel and LNG as the strongest candidates for alternative shipping fuel, but doesn’t rule out nuclear power or possible technological breakthroughs.
