In November 2015, Menzel Elektromotoren helped to resolve an interruption in production at a cement plant in Cambridge. Following the failure of both the mill drive and the existing reserve motor, the plant operators faced a full-scale production shutdown. After three days, they turned to Menzel with a request for the construction and delivery of a replacement motor, Three days later a new, identical motor with customised modifications had already left the workshop of Menzel in Berlin. Through this, a prolonged and costly production downtime was avoided.

The quick response was possible due to Menzel’s stock of over 20 000 motors in a power range of up to 15 000 kW, meaning a suitable slip-ring motor that matched the original motor’s features, was readily available.
