Penna Cement has joined the World Cement Association (WCA) as a corporate member. Penna Cement is one of the largest privately-held cement producers in India with installed capacity of 10 million tpy.
“With Penna Cement, a new member strongly committed to the improvement of society and the environment is joining our international community,” said Norman Greig, Secretary General of the WCA. “There is a positive outlook for the Indian cement industry and we are delighted to welcome an important player of this exciting growth market to our global network.”
In recent years, Penna Cement has implemented a range of measures to reduce CO2 emissions and improve energy conservations, such as waste heat recovery and efficiency improvements in the pyroprocess.
“We are glad to be part of the WCA, which will help us to benchmark against the best companies in the world to improve our environmental sustainability and energy conservation,” said Krishna Srivastava, Director of Marketing at Penna Cement.
Is also involved in various social responsibility programmes that focus on free education and vocational training for the children of communities around its plants, as well as being active in the improvement of roads and other infrastructure in the villages.
