LOESCHE is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the Ferro Duo GmbH for the delivery of a slag grinding plant for its facility in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia.
This project is groundbreaking, as Ferro Duo is laying the first milestone for the set-up of a new industrial SCM (supplementary cementitious materials) site in Duisburg with this investment. This will create an industrial platform for scaling up CO2-reduced building materials in Europe with a planned capacity of several hundred thousand tpy.
LOESCHE GmbH had already been part of a similar project in this market and is pleased to support this new important project with the delivery of a slag grinding plant. The core of the grinding plant to be supplied is a LOESCHE vertical roller mill with a dynamic classifier type LSKS. The scope of supply for this project also includes a rotary feeder, the product filter and mill fan, the complete mechanical and electrical system for the grinding plant and the entire steel structure. It is also worth mentioning that an electrical heater is inserted in this project instead of a fossil fuel hot gas generator. LOESCHE GmbH also acts as EPC management partner and supports Ferro Duo with the necessary tenders and with construction and installation.
The decisive factors for awarding the contract to LOESCHE were, on the one hand, the excellent Loesche references for superfine slag grinding and, on the other hand, the technological possibilities that the LOESCHE vertical roller mill offers, especially for the very fine grinding of slag and various other feeding materials that Ferro Duo required.
The target of this project is to systematically reduce emission-intensive clinker-based materials and replace them with other mineral components, which in turn will enable significant CO2 savings to be realised in the construction and cement industry.
