India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced that it received new orders worth Rs.1471 crores in November and December 2013. The orders, which are both domestic and international in scope, have been placed across the company’s business divisions, such as its Water & Renewable Energy, Heavy Civil Infrastructure Business and the Power Transmission & Distribution segments. The Buildings & Factories Business division has won new orders worth Rs.461 crores. This includes a contract to construct a cement plant in Chittapur, Karnataka, India. The scope of the contract covers structural fabrication, erection and related activities.
The Builders Association of India (BAI) has called upon the state to intervene in rising cement prices, as construction projects all over the region are cut short due to high costs.
