H&C release Shieldcrete

Published by
World Cement,

Shieldcrete is a design combination with the admixture Kalmatron KF-A

KF-A is a high strength, water reducing admixture to regular concrete mixes for the construction, repair and overlay of floors, pavements and roads. Designed for use in high traffic areas such as highways, freeways, loading docks, garages, parking lots and ramps. Shieldcrete protects trafficable surfaces against crude oil and water penetration, freeze-thaw cycles, de-icing treatments, and heavy machine and industrial traffic.

At a layer of just 20 mm thick, SHIELDCRETE provides:

  • Water impermeability over W12 (1700 PSI)
  • Compressive strength of 50 MPa (7100 PSI)
  • Tensile strength of 8 MPa (1140 PSI)
  • No shrinkage cracks
  • No dilatation
  • No curing is required
  • Structurally stable to aggressive environments with Ph of 3-2
  • Resistant to environmental and chemical corrosion

Concrete mixer redesign

The University of Liverpool worked with Cubic3 Design and Engineering to improve the lifespan and reduce maintenance needs for a range of continuous concrete mixers.

Concrete industry commitment REAPs benefits

Guy Thompson, The Concrete Centre – MPA, UK, explains how the ongoing commitment of the concrete industry to sustainability can help designers and specifiers achieve sustainable solutions.

Concrete and Fire: Material and Structural Performance

MPA The Concrete Centre explains how, because of concrete’s inherent material properties, it can be used to minimise fire risk for the lowest initial cost while requiring the least in terms of ongoing maintenance.
