Lafarge Tarmac has announced that Mark Joel will take up the role of Managing Director of its Building Products business. Formerly Group Director of Strategy and Business Performance for Lafarge Tarmac, Mr Joel’s experience includes a number of senior positions at Tarmac’s aggregates, asphalt and ready-mix concrete business units. In his new role, Mr Joel will oversee 46 operational sites and 800 employees.
Lafarge Tarmac acquired Tarmac Building Products from Anglo American plc, following receipt of regulatory approval in April 2014.
“It’s an exciting and dynamic time for Lafarge Tarmac,” said Mr Joel. “The acquisition of Tarmac Building Products expands our offer and opens up new opportunities for us, particularly in the house-building sector.”
Amit Bhatia, Chairman of Hope Construction Materials, has been named ‘Young Director of the Year for London and the South East’ at the Institute of Director’s Director of the Year awards.
New trails have been opened at the Langford Lowfields Quarry, England, and a new nesting raft for terns has been installed at the Whitesands Quarry, Scotland.
